Uganda is a landlocked country in East Africa region on the African continent. It is bordered by South Sudan in the North, Kenya in the East, Democratic Republic of Congo in the West, Tanzania in the south and Rwanda in the South western part. Uganda was named the Pearl of Africa by Sir Winston Churchill in his book “My African Journey”. Uganda‘s diverse landscape encompasses the snow-capped Rwenzori Mountains found in Western part of the country, and immense Lake Victoria, the biggest inland fresh water lake in the world that is shared by the original 3 East African countries.

Its abundant wildlife includes chimpanzees as well as rare birds. Remote Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is a renowned mountain gorilla sanctuary, although they can as well be sighted in Mgahinga National park, Murchison Falls National Park in the northwest is known for its 43m-tall waterfall and wildlife such as hippos, lions and leopards, Queen Elizabeth national park is the country’s most famous National park and it was named after the Queen of England, Her Majesty Elizabeth II.

Uganda experiences a warm tropical climate with temperatures falling in the 25–29°C (77–84°F) range on an average. The months from December to February are the hottest, and are highly recommended for any African safari but even during this season the evenings can be chilly with temperatures in the 17–18°C (63–64°F) range.

Having been colonized by the British during the scramble for power from the western world, English has been the official language spoken in Uganda since it obtained her independence in 1962, however Swahili has become more spoken across the country since it’s a member of the East African Community. With more than 40 tribes around the country, each region embraces its mother language, however this does not stop any Traveller from enjoying his/her vaccation while in Uganda.
